GREAT THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!
Main Street, the new heart of Lakewood Ranch, is now emerging as an energetic and thriving mixed-use community. The highly anticipated lifestyle center located off Lakewood Ranch Boulevard in the Town Center of Lakewood Ranch, has undergone phased construction since late 2004. Now with the shell building complete, new retailers, offices, and restaurants are opening at a steady pace, with construction on the second phase in full swing.
Main Street is a unique combination of retail, office and residential units, combined to provide a one-stop shopping experience. The center is becoming a true destination place, designed to draw traffic from the Ranch and beyond. Developed by the team of Casto Lifestyle Properties and LWR Main Street, LLC, the $30 million development celebrated a soft opening late last year, with the remainder of the center opening in phases throughout 2006.
“Main Street is now fully leased and bustling with activity. It is an overwhelming success and the community should be very proud of it,” said John Swart, President of Lakewood Ranch Commercial Realty.
Designed by the architectural firm of Gary Hoyt and the engineering firm of George F. Young, Main Street embodies a bright, crisp aesthetic combined with an urban, hometown feel. “The atmosphere is superb,” commented Brett Hutchens, President of Casto Lifestyle Properties. “It takes you back to a time before indoor shopping malls and mega-stores, where quaint villages and community gathering spots were the norm. It is a fantastic concept with an unprecedented design, and we are thrilled to see it flourishing.”
Adding to the quaint appeal of the center, Main Street features a park-like seating area accented by a peaceful fountain and stately Centennial clock, located in a central courtyard. The $16,000 street clock was donated by the Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch and features four large faces, each with the International Rotary seal. The Club also contributed several park benches, which line the streets.
Main Street is home to 120,000 SF of specialty retail stores, upscale restaurants, beautiful residential condominiums and 46,000 SF of distinctive, Class-A office space. Retail establishments include boutique-style originals and local favorites such as Bella Rae Boutique, Wish on Main, Endless Summer and many others. Upscale national chains include Chico’s, Ritz Camera, Sunglass Express & RX Optical and Morton’s Gourmet Market. In addition, Main Street will include a free-standing sales office for Michael Saunders and Company, scheduled to open later this year. For a complete list of Main Street retailers and commercial offices, see the list below.
Dining choices a Main Street include MacAllister’s Restaurant, a Scottish-themed golf pub; and the Serving Spoon, a family-oriented breakfast and lunch eatery. Elegant fine dining options include the modern and sophisticated Fred’s Restaurant and Ballroom, a distinguished restaurant known for exceptional dining. Other unique eateries include Astoria Fine Russian Cuisine, offering authentic and distinct Russian fare, as well as exotic specialties available at the Saijo Sushi Restaurant.
The addition of the Lakewood Ranch Cinemas marked the start of construction on a second phase of Main Street. As an extension of the Burns Court Cinema, the Sarasota Film Society is developing the 6-screen, 690 seat movie theater, which will also include a café overlooking the picturesque Lake Uihlein. The Cinema will provide state-of-the-art film projection, with Dolby-digital sound and stadium seating. Film-buffs will enjoy sophisticated Hollywood pictures, foreign language and American independent films, as well as select first run films.
Additional phase two retail stores along with the theater will include New Balance University, specializing in New Balance shoes and accessories; and AV Concepts, well-known for its selection of Home Theater and Surround Sound systems and top brands such as Denon, Monster, and LG Electronics. These establishments, along with Lakewood Ranch Cinemas will open fourth quarter, 2006.
For those wanting to live in the midst of this convenient and exciting environment, two residential opportunities exist. The “Lofts on Main,” is a 20 unit residential condominium complex, which sit above the retail stores offering charming and quaint accommodations. In addition, condos are under construction in phase two known as “The Lakeshore.” These luxurious, 3-story condos will be positioned along the shoreline of Lake Uihlein; elegantly appointed with first-class amenities and superior attention to detail. The Lakeshore will be available fourth quarter 2006.
“Main Street has it all,” said John Swart. “Fabulous restaurants, retail establishments, condos, office space ~ everything; and we are thrilled to see the years of planning and developing come together. This has been a substantial group effort from day one, and it’s wonderful to see our vision become a reality.”
With its variety of exclusive stores, restaurants, offices and the theater, Main Street’s mixed-use environment offers something for everyone. Main Street is conveniently located on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, with close proximity to University parkway and I-75, just across the street from the Lakewood Ranch Hospital and Medical Center.
